A laid back wedding at Hackney Town Hall with a Fun party at Night Tales

If you’re planning a “we just want to get married and throw a fun party!” kind of wedding, you’ll love this wedding for inspiration!
When Alex and Trent first got in touch with me about their big day, I was so excited – they were planning a laid-back city wedding with a town hall ceremony and a casual evening of cocktails, street food and a whole lot of dancing! Alex and Trent are the loveliest people, and I couldn’t wait to shoot their wedding!

The ceremony
The ceremony took place in Hackney Town Hall’s beautiful, light-filled Atrium, and was beautifully decorated with vibrant flowers in sunset tones. Alex & Trent had written their own vows, which made the ceremony much more personal and emotional. It’s something I’m seeing more of at Town Hall weddings, and I’m glad couples are now being given that option. After the ceremony, we took a few moments to make the most of the town hall’s stunning architecture and get a few couples’ portraits, before heading outside to be showered in confetti by their loved ones.

The party
The celebrations continued a short walk away at Night Tales, A bar with a terrace and a nightclub hidden under railway arches. It’s a really unique space, and was perfect for their relaxed vibe.
After making a grand entrance, they kicked off the celebrations with speeches from their parents. Afterwards, they let their first incredible DJ do his thing, which gave the afternoon a really chilled vibe. For the food, they opted for a couple of food trucks instead of a formal sit down meal, and it was enjoyed by all the guests. Later, everyone gravitated to the dancefloor for a short (but very good) funky house set, and while everyone was gathered, they kicked off the second set of speeches from the wedding party. Finally, they moved into the nightclub space for their first dance, and from then on, it was non-stop dancing! Seriously, I had so much fun that it was only the thought of my early train in the morning that got me off the dancefloor!
