Cookies

This site uses cookies – small text files that are placed on your machine to help the site provide a better user experience. In general, cookies are used to retain user preferences, store information for things like shopping baskets, and provide anonymised tracking data to third party applications like Google Analytics. Marni V Photography uses cookies for two reasons, firstly to make sure this website is reaching its target audiences (either via advertising or organically) and secondly to make sure this website looks good and is running smoothly.
As a rule, cookies will make your browsing experience better. However, you may prefer to disable cookies on this site and on others. Privacy Policy

I take your privacy and the handling of your data seriously. I used to have a long, very techi and boring privacy policy which, if you honestly want to waste an hour of your life, you can read here (but I can’t be held responsible with the boredom that will lead to). Instead, in order to become GDPR compliant, I have written a clear and simple privacy policy that lets you know what data I collect and what I do with it. Lots of knowledge, significantly less boredom!

What I collect

If you decide to enquire about booking me as your photographer then for pretty obvious reasons I’ll collect your name and email address. I also ask for date and location of the wedding/photo shoot, and any other information you decide to provide (how you met, the theme of your wedding etc), so that I can get to know you a bit and also to figure out if I’m available for your event. This information is collected when you fill out one of my contact forms, and is then stored on my email account and in my awesome client management software called Studio Ninja (if you really enjoy reading privacy policies, you can take a look at there’s here). Both my email and studio ninja are password protected and GDPR compliant.

If you decide to book me as your photographer I’ll also collect your phone number (so that i can easily contact you if I need to) your address (so that I can post your USB to you) and the location, timings, shot list and relevant info needed for me to photograph your event. This Is all collected via a google docs questionnaire that only you and I have access to.

I’ll also take photos of you and your friends, family and guests, but only for the event you’ve hired me to photograph, obviously. I’m not a stalker! I store these images securely on my hard drives and in a secure online gallery.

What do I do with it?

Not much really. All of this data is collected so that I can do the job you’ve hired me to do.

Email + Phone number

I use your name, phone number and email to chat with you about your event or photo shoot. I don’t have a newsletter and I have no intention of starting one so you don’t need to worry about your inbox being filled with junk (at least not from me). Once or twice a year I might send you special offers (like black Friday print discounts) but only if I’ve actually taken some photos for you and you’ve opted in to receive these emails. I’ll never send your details to any randomers. If you book a second shooter then I’ll give them your number so that it’s easier for them to find you on the day.

Images

As you can see from using my website, I display images from events and photo shoots all over my website ‘cause words aren’t quite enough to convince people that I’m a good photographer! I also use them in my advertising and social media, and sometimes submit images to be featured on relevant blogs or competitions. I’ll ask you to consent to all this when you book and sign the contract, and again in your questionnaire. However, you can withdraw your consent at any time and I will totally respect your right to privacy.

Guest Images

As a documentary style wedding photographer, I’ll be taking lots of photographs of your guests too (I’d be doing a pretty poor job if I didn’t!). If the night gets a bit messy and I end up taking some photos that I suspect your guests might not want on social media or my website then I’ll definitely ask you if you’d like them kept private. Your guests are also entitled to contact me directly and let me know which images of themselves they would like to have taken off my website or social media.

Your Rights.

The GDPR provides the following rights for individuals:

1. The right to be informed – If you’ve jumped straight to this bit then read from the top to get informed.

2. The right of access – You can request access to all the data that I hold on you at any time by emailing hello@marnivphotography.co.uk. This will be provided electronically.

3. The right to rectification – If you notice any of your personal data that I hold is incorrect just email me and I’ll update it with the correct info. Easy.

4. The right to erasure – You have the right to withdraw your consent for me to hold your data at any time. Deleting all of your data means erasing images too. Obviously doing this before you have received any images would be a pretty nonsensical idea!

5. The right to restrict processing – (requesting to keep some of your images off social media etc.)
