Bristol Pub Wedding
A quirky country pub for a fun Bristol Wedding in The Battleaxes
This year’s wedding season started with Stephanie & Luke’s laid back do in spring. The whole event took place in The Battleaxes, a quirky pub just outside of Bristol city centre. The Battleaxes is such a lovely venue, with great staff and really yummy food, and the fact that you can have your entire wedding there, from getting ready until the last person leaves the dancefloor, is definitely a bonus! Stephanie is from Newcastle and Luke is from Wales so it was lovely that they were able to gather all their loved ones (including their adorable dog Olive) from opposite sides of the UK for their celebrations! Including a pregnant bridesmaid that couldn’t travel but still got to watch everything via Skype!
Stephanie & Luke didn’t have a theme for their wedding and embraced the quirkiness of the venue with mismatched chairs and bright unusual flowers (lookout for the pink pineapples in some of the bouquets!) homemade bunting and colourful pom poms. The ceremony was a definite highlight of the day. The lovely couple was beaming with joy throughout the whole ceremony which included a fantastic reading of the poem ‘You’ll always get a guy with a pie’ by John Cooper Clarke by two of their friends, that had everyone laughing! It was grey for most of the day but the sun came out in the early evening, which meant that everyone could enjoy the Gin cocktails while lazing on deck chairs in the pub garden.
Stephanie & Luke say that if you’re planning your wedding, the biggest piece of advice they could give you is to go on a final ‘un-married’ date and just enjoy the lead up to the wedding. They went for food, cocktails and a comedy gig the week before the wedding which was a lovely way to start the wedding week and meant they got to spend some quality time together before all the madness started.
Here’s their awesome wedding!
